I prepared Cabbage Masala fry with a slight change as to my cabbage curry/poriyal. It tasted good. I added green peas(frozen) to blend with cabbage.
Cabbage - 3/4 of a medium size
Frozen green peas - 1/2 cup
Onion - 1 medium chopped fine
Coconut - 3 or 4 tbsp grated
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Garam masala powder or
Sabji Masala - 3/4 tbsp( can also use sambar powder)
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Salt as needed
Oil - 1 tbsp
Cut cabbage into thin small pieces or shred them...wash and pat dry.
Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves... when they splutter up add chopped onions and fry till transparent... next add chopped cabbage and green peas... fry both together... by then grind coarsely coconut and cumin seeds ( can add just few drops of water)... keep stirring the vegetables to get cooked till 3/4th...
Next add salt, masala powder and the ground coconut mixture. Reduce flame and fry till the raw smell leaves and also the water is drained.. Serve with rice and or Chapathis.
