KULI PANIYAARAM....can be made sweet or spicy...Today I have made the spicy version.
Idli Batter - 3 cups
Onion - 1 small chopped fine
Carrot - 2 ( peeled and grated)
Green chillies - 2 chopped fine
Channa dhal - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - few
Urad dhal - few
Curry leaves - few
Salt as needed
Oil
Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan and add channa dhal, mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves...wait for few seconds and add chopped onions....fry well till they are transparent...next add chopped green chillies and saute for a minute... then add grated carrot... fry well for 4- 5 minutes...add salt and mix well... remove and mix this with the idli batter.
Heat kuli paniyaaram mould and add few drops of oil in each hole...using a spoon drop some mix in each mould cook for few minutes and then, slowly turn over to cook the other side...cook till both sides are done....serve as a snack or breakfast....goes well with coconut or mint chutney
