4 CHOLE 2( CHANNA)

Channa/chole/chick peas/garbanzo beans.

This is my other recipe of Chole...goes well with poori's and parathas.

Channa- 1 cup
Onion - 1 big( chopped to big pieces)
Onion - few chopped fine
Tomato - 3
or Tomato paste(store bought) - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 4 pods
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tbsp
Chole masala powder - 1 tbsp
Jeera/cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Clove - 2
Cinnamon- a small piece
Salt as needed
Oil - 2 tbsp

Method:
Soak channa over night and pressure cook in a pan/cooker for 2 whistles.

Grind together 1 big onion, garlic, ginger, clove and cinnamon to a fine paste.

If using tomatoes...then grind in a mixer to make a paste seperately.

Heat oil in a kadai and add jeera/cumin seeds.Wait for few seconds and then add a handful of chopped onions and saute till they are transparent. Next add the ground paste...reduce flame and allow it to cook very well...stirring in between now and then ...cook till the raw smell leaves ...will take a lot of time. So just simmer and cover with a lid and check often. Then add all the powders and saute once. Next add tomato paste and cook for an other 10 minutes.

Finally add the cooked channa and salt. Allow it to cook together for another 5 to 10 minutes. Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves and serve.

I made Your Chole recipe it has very much of raw onion flavor. Did it happen to you as well. I couldn't eat because of the raw smell. I cooked it well even then it did have the smell. I don't know what went wrong. Any suggestion.

Don't know exactly what happened. Actually this takes a longer time to cook as mentioned. May be can suggest you to put the onions in water preferably in hot water for 10 minutes and then try out. Hope this will help you.
