Peanut/ground nut chutney( verkadalai chutney)
Peanut - 1 cup
Red chillies - 2 or 3
Tamarind - a small piece
Salt as needed
Coconut - 1/4th cup( optional)
Tempering:-
Mustard seeds, urad dhal, ingu, curry leaves, small onions chopped or you can substitute all of these with vadagams( used for temperings/Thalicha vadagam).
First fry peanuts till they are dark and nice in brown in color. Remove and keep aside. Cool and remove/peel skin.
You can always fry ahead and store,can use when required.
Take the required qty of peanuts in a mixer add red chillies according to spice needed,tamarind and salt, coconut(optional)...grind to a smooth consistency and add the temperings. Goes well with idli and dosas.
