Chow Chow/chayote - 1 ( Peeled and chopped)
Channa dhal - 2 tbsp
Red chillies - 4 to 5
Tamarind - small marble sized
Ingu - little
Curry leaves ( optional)
Salt
Seasoning:-
Mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves
Variation:-
Can add green chillies instead of red chillies.
Can use garlic 2 pods and a small piece of ginger.
In a kadai heat oil and fry channa dhal till they turn light brown...immediately add red chillies, ingu and tamarind, ...fry for a minute...remove and keep aside.
In the same kadai add a spoon of oil and fry chow chow till they are cooked and soft...cool and grind both with salt.
Heat oil in a different small kadai and add mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves...when they splutter up...pour it on the chutney and mix well.
